Volunteer
Whatever your interest, there is a place for you here!
Volunteers are an essential part of the Pony community. This work cannot be done alone and volunteers of all ages help encourage and support students!
Volunteers log thousands of hours each year helping in classrooms, assisting on field trips, and supporting teachers. Volunteers read with students, stock library shelves, play cribbage, share career advice and organize special events. Whatever the skill or interest, there is no doubt there is a place to help!
Contact school buildings or program leaders with interest in volunteering at a school.
All district volunteers must complete a volunteer background check before working with children.
Great schools don't happen by accident
Meeting the diverse needs of students requires the efforts of many people coming together to do what is right for kids. It takes an entire community, or in Stillwater's case, an entire river valley! Amazing people - from staff and volunteers to community partners - helping care for Stillwater students.

Working Together for Kids
The Stillwater community recognizes that schools cannot do it alone. Amazing partners join the district to provide extra support, resources, and creative solutions for so many of these challenges. The community helps break down barriers for students by:
- Dozens of individuals, organizations, and mental health providers forming a mental health collaborative responsible for bringing Peer Helpers, support groups, and the Make It OK campaign to schools.
- FamilyMeans, Youth Service Bureau, and Lakeview Health and other local agencies and foundations team up to create a Wellness Center at Stillwater Area High School to help students dealing with chemical health, mental health, nutrition and wellness issues.
- A local church designs ways its congregation can help encourage and support students, staff and families within the school district, address basic needs, and helps to meet the social and emotional needs of students inside and outside of the classroom.
- Washington County partners with the district to improve emergency preparedness and crisis response systems.
- Many local businesses, as well as the Greater Stillwater Area Chamber of Commerce and the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, work with the district to develop the Pathways program to help students explore career options and gain valuable real-world experiences in the workplace. The Partnership Plan also supported this effort with a significant start-up investment.
- The Stillwater Sunrise Rotary leads an effort to staff elementary media centers with volunteers to help shelve books, check out materials, and read with kindergarten and first grade students.
These are just a few of the examples. In reality, there are hundreds of organizations, groups and individuals - from Marine down to Afton and Woodbury - who work on behalf of students. It takes a valley to do this important work. Creativity, brain power, and continued support ensure Stillwater meets the needs of students both now and into the future.
