The importance of civic discourse and civic skills; the roles of local, state, and federal governments in providing services and how taxes are related; the roles of the three branches of government

History

Ancient civilizations: comparing/contrasting communication, daily life, beliefs and culture; understanding time periods such as decades, centuries, and millennia; using two points of view to compare and contrast an event; studying individuals and inventions; and studying environmental impact on settlement

Geography

Describing location using cardinal and intermediate directions; understanding maps: title, orientation, date, author, legend, scale (TODALS)

Economics

Concepts of personal spending, costs, benefits, income, expenditures, natural, capital, and human resources, and consumer roles
