Check out the course description for sixth grade math.

Sixth grade mathematics is designed to provide a smooth transition from elementary into middle school where students gain a foundation of mathematical concepts. Students will explore concepts such as fraction, decimal, and integer operations, writing and solving equations, proportional relationships, functions, percents, measurements, problem solving, probability, geometry, and graphing. This will be accomplished through group collaboration, differentiation within the classroom, daily assignments and activities, and writing in mathematics. This course will prepare students for pre-algebra or algebra placement in 7th grade and is aligned with Minnesota’s 6th grade math standards.

Math placement for courses other than Math 6 will be determined by successful completion of prerequisite courses and/or assessment results.
