Various evening and daytime performances will be required as part of the course.

Band 6 - Full year, every other day

Prerequisite: One year of elementary school band participation
The Stillwater Band Department is an award winning and highly respected program of ensembles ranging from the beginners in our elementary schools through collegiate- level experiences at our senior high school. Students in this instrumental performance class will continue their study of basic musicianship by learning and performing authentic and challenging literature in a variety of styles and from different cultures.  6th Grade band focuses on note and rhythm reading skills. Musicians will demonstrate their knowledge of correct instrument technique while learning about the roles the different instruments play in the band. Consistent practice outside of the school day will insure progress at the level of the group. Students will be expected to perform in daytime and evening performances.

For the 2021-22 school year only a beginner band option will be available. Beginner band students will be expected to attend the 1-week Instrument Explosion Beginner Band camp in August through Stillwater Community Education (or the equivalent private instruction) prior to the start of school.

Orchestra 6 - Full year, every other day

Prerequisite: One year of elementary school orchestra participation
