Census for families new to the district
It is very important to us that we maintain accurate and up-to-date census files on all households located within our district boundaries. This includes senior citizens, people who have just moved to the area, households with preschool age children and newborns, households with no children, and those that have children being home schooled or attending a non-public school. Stillwater Area Public Schools has educational classes and opportunities for learners of all ages. The information you provide will be used to make enrollment projections, program planning, determine staffing and classroom space needs and more.
Homeschool/ Non-Public Students
Homeschooling is an alternative option to public or traditional private school attendance. MN Statutes 120A.22, Subd 5. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) has determined that homeschools are private schools that provide their own curriculum, transcripts and diplomas. MDE does not vouch for or certify curriculum, transcripts or diplomas. District 834 cannot provide curriculum, transcripts or diplomas for home school students.
A parent may choose to home school their child at any time during the school year. However, the parent must notify the school district in which the family resides as soon as they decide to homeschool or within 15 days of withdrawing from school. There are certain steps that need to be taken in order to register a homeschool within your resident school district.
Homeschool Forms
Carefully review all forms to ensure compliance with School District 834 policies and MN State Statutes.
Initial Registration Form: If you have a child that is new to homeschooling in the Stillwater Area Public School District, please submit form by October 1
Letter of Intent to Continue Homeschooling Report: Please submit by October 1
Student Report For Aids to Nonpublic Students: Please submit by October 1 to receive reimbursement for materials.
Student Immunization: Please submit immunization record or medical or non-medical exemption record by October 1. NOTE: Documentation is required the first year of homeschooling and again when your student turns 12 years of age.
Best of both worlds
Did you know you can take advantage of all the classes, activities and unique learning experiences at Stillwater Area Public Schools while still maintaining your homeschool status?
