Occasionally, the school district utilizes surveys to obtain student opinions and information about students. 

Student surveys will be conducted anonymously and no attempt will be made in any way to identify a student survey participant. There will be no requirement that the student participate in a survey - nor any penalty for a student who opts out of a survey.

Parents/guardians will be asked at the beginning of each year to give consent for their children to participate in surveys. Notice to parents is not required for the collection, disclosure, or use of personal information collected from students for the exclusive purpose of developing, evaluating, or providing educational products or services.

Planned surveys include the following:

  • Student Engagement Survey: This survey is administered to a random selection of students in grades 3-6 and 9-12 each spring. Families of selected students will be notified in advance. The survey asks students about their experiences in school related to academics and social/emotional support.
  • Minnesota Student Survey: This survey is administered to students in grade 5, 8, 9 and 11 every 3 years. The next administration will take place in February 2022. Families of students will be notified in advance. The survey asks students how things are going at school, with their peers, and about health-related thoughts and behaviors.
