Chromebooks are on the way
The first shipment of Chromebooks is on its way to the district, and additional devices are expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Students in our middle schools and the high school can expect to have devices in hand by the end of this month!
The new devices are part of a 1:1 initiative funded by the recently approved technology levy. The first batch of Chromebooks will be delivered to Stillwater Middle School students next week. Oak-Land students can expect to receive their devices the following week, and devices should be arriving at the high school later this month. Watch for specific details from your child’s school.
Students in grades 2-5 will have access to Chromebooks within their classrooms and to use at home as needed. Kindergarten and 1st grade students will have iPads to use in their classrooms. These devices will arrive in schools later this fall.
The goal of the 1:1 initiative is to increase students’ communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. The technology will be used to support learning as appropriate, and students will still use traditional textbooks, reading books, and other physical classroom materials.
