Granquist Honored with Star of the North Award
As an eighth grader at Stillwater Middle School, Sienna Granquist has been presented with the 2023 Star of the North Award by the Minnesota Educators of the Gifted and Talented.
The Star of the North Award recognizes a Minnesota student who has outstanding student accomplishment in one or more of the following areas: academic, visual or performing arts, and leadership.
Granquist was nominated by her math teacher Samantha Boyd for her strong leadership and academic skills. As the school's National Junior Honor Society Co-President, Granquist has been involved in several community service projects, including the Stillwater Middle School community Halloween event for elementary students in the district. Academically, Granquist has already surpassed the high school math requirements and continues to use her goals for the future to help map out what courses will suit her best and where acceleration might be in her best interest.
"Her passion for mathematics, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and natural leadership qualities make her an ideal candidate for Star of the North," said Boyd.
In addition to her recognition, Granquist received a $500 scholarship prize as Star of the North recipient.
