Need your shots? Vaccination clinics coming in August

State law requires every student enrolled in school to be immunized against certain diseases or file a legal medical or non-medical exemption. Stillwater schools is making vaccines available for students in grades K-12 through a partnership with Homeland Health Specialists and Washington County Public Health & Environment. The vaccination clinics will take place in August during schedule pick up at the middle schools and Pony Round Up Day at the high school, however students in grades K-12 can attend any clinic.

• August 17 | 6-8 p.m. | Oak-Land Middle School
• August 18 | 10 a.m.-1 p.m. | Stillwater Area High School

All students will have the opportunity to be vaccinated, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. We will take insurance from students who have it. Students without insurance will receive MNVFC vaccine and will be asked to provide a $20 donation per vaccine. For families who are unable to pay the $20 donation, HHSI will bill the school/district or county a $20 administration fee per vaccine administered to MNVFC eligible students.

Students will not be able to attend school if their immunizations are not in compliance in one of the following ways: 

• Immunization record. The Immunization Form (or the Formulario de vacunaciones -español) can be used to document vaccinations and/or claim an exemption from the requirements for medical or non-medical exemptions. Schools will accept other versions of immunization records too as long as all required immunizations are listed. 

• Medical exemptions must be signed by a health care provider.

• Non-medical exemptions must be signed by a parent/guardian and notarized.

Any time your child is due for an immunization, updated records showing compliance must be submitted to your child's school. Common times this occurs would be:

• Any new student moving into the district.

• All students entering kindergarten (including their five-year-old shots).

• All seventh graders who haven't yet turned in their immunization records for middle school. 

• Any high school student who has received immunizations (meningococcal vaccination is due age 16-18).
