Sixth Grade Students Named Top-10 National Finalists
Sixth Grade Students Named Top-10 National Finalists
STILLWATER MIDDLE SCHOOL -- March 26, 2024 -- For their light pollution studies, students in Corrie Christiansen's sixth grade science class are one of 10 national finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow STEM competition.
The title earned them $50,000 in prizes in addition to $12,000 the class earned as the Minnesota State Champion. Centering around reducing the impact of light pollution, the project proves to improve bird migration in the St. Croix Valley. The 11- and 12-year-olds now travel to Washington, D.C. next month for a chance to be named one of three National Winners and receive a $100,000 prize package.

As the district’s transportation supervisor, Risley creates bus routes and is charged with the economic planning of routes.
