Safe resolution to incident at Pony football game
STILLWATER, Minn -- August 28, 2025 -- This evening at the Stillwater Area High School football game, some of our students overheard an individual talking about having a gun. They immediately reported what they heard to police officers who were on site and identified the individual. Officers quickly located the individual, who was found to be carrying a BB gun. The person, who is not from our school community, was taken into custody at the scene.
We recognize that in light of this week’s tragedy, this situation was especially frightening. We are deeply grateful for the swift action of our students, who spoke up right away, and for the rapid response of our local law enforcement. Because of their efforts, the situation was resolved quickly and safely.
As always, the safety of our students, staff and community remains our highest priority. We continue to encourage vigilance, open communication and partnership in maintaining a safe environment for all.

"The safety of our students is our top priority. As a school community, we are deeply saddened that some of our students were among the victims in this case involving a former Adventure Club employee. Because this is pending litigation, we cannot discuss specific allegations.
To prepare for the opening of the new Lake Elmo and Bayport elementary schools, the district is reviewing attendance boundaries to balance enrollment across our southern schools and make room for future growth. A decision is expected in December.

The high school is planning to implement a new 7x2 block schedule for the start of the 2026-27 school year.
