Stillwater Orchestra celebrates 50 years
The Stillwater Orchestra celebrated its 50th anniversary with a special concert last night. The performance featured the Stillwater Area High School Concert Orchestra, as well as the Stillwater Middle School Chamber Orchestra and Oak-Land Middle School’s 6th grade Honors Orchestra. Alumni and world renowned pianist Greg Anderson (Class of 2000) and alumni cellist and music educator Dylan Tischer (Class of 2018) returned for a special grand finale. They joined senior violinist Grace Weitzel for the feature piece, Beethoven's Triple Concerto. The free concert took donations for the Orchestra Legacy Fund which brings in guest artists, provides scholarships, and commissions composers to enhance what Stillwater Orchestra can offer our students.

As the district looks to improve for the future, the school board is considering a change to the high school schedule.

The Class of 2023 will be graduating on Saturday, June 10.

The seniors were presented with a special eagle feather or a medicine bag to recognize their educational achievements.

The Facilities Planning Team is recommending the school board hold a bond referendum this fall to replace two elementary schools, add on to Oak-Land Middle and make security improvements across the district.

After many years of learning within kid-sized classrooms and using kid-sized facilities, young adults in the district’s Bridge Transition 18 to 21-year-old program have their own space within the Oak Park Building.
