Student journalists win gold
Stillwater Area High School journalists have been honored by the Minnesota High School Press Association with several Gold Medallion Awards for 2020-21.
The awards recognize the academic year’s top individual work in seven categories — broadcast, literary arts magazine, newspaper/newsmagazine, online, photojournalism, social media and yearbook.
The Pony Express earned awards in the following categories:
- Broadcast Feature Story: 1st Place (Austin Buck, Aiden Flock, & Erik Houle)
- Broadcast News Story: 2nd Place (Connor Quaderer)
- Broadcast News Story: 3rd Place (Abby Anderson, Cassidy Gilliam, & Katie Kangas)
- Feature Story Writing: 3rd Place (Sophia Arndt)
- Newspaper Story Editorial: 4th Place (Olivia Bystrom)
- Sports Story Writing: 5th Place (Elizabeth Harter)
- All State Silver: Print Publication
- All State Silver: Online Publication
In addition, senior editor Katie Kangas was inducted into the National Scholastic Press Association Honor Roll.
The Kabekonian Yearbook received four Gold Medallion awards:
- Theme Package: Third Place (2021 Yearbook Staff)
- Spread Design: Fourth Place (Stella Bertsch, Lizzie Dorschner, Anthony Toscano and Nile Tesfahnan)
- Academics Story: Third Place (Drew Jurek)
- Sports Story: Third Place (Alex Corbett)

Stillwater dominated Farmington 8-1 to win the state baseball championship.

Eight out of 10 of the high schools' spring athletic teams are Section Champions!
This year marks the 146th commencement exercise for our high school.
The goal is to bring service back to pre-pandemic levels (79 routes) as soon as possible.
The price adjustment is in response to increased food and supply costs, as well as new delivery charges.
