Students promote inclusion at State Capitol
Stillwater Area High School students are promoting their "Inclusion Revolution" to state lawmakers. Thomas Blair and Rylynn Zanon are among 40 students, with and without disabilities, who serve on the Special Olympics Minnesota Student Board of Directors. The board works together to educate, motivate and activate students to become agents of change in their schools and communities.
Blair and Zanon spoke at the State Capitol about the Unified movement at SAHS and how because of it a “beautiful web of connections has grown through the school’s community.” More than 100 students, with and without special needs, belong to the Ponies TRUST (True Respect Unifies Students Together) Club, which offers recreational sports, social events, and wellness and leadership activities. SAHS also offers Unified physical education classes to more than 100 students and is home to the state champion Unified basketball team.
