Superintendent Statement on Teacher Discipline
Dear Pony Community,
We want to acknowledge the recent news coverage regarding disciplinary action involving four educators in our district. These actions stem from a violation of the professional expectations surrounding the LETRS literacy training program, a key initiative aimed at strengthening reading instruction in our schools.
Let us be clear: the integrity of our educational programs and the trust of our community are paramount. The behaviors in question represent a serious breach of the ethical and professional standards we uphold. We deeply regret the impact this situation may have on public confidence, and we are committed to transparency and accountability as we move forward.
The LETRS program—designed to equip educators with research-based strategies aligned with the Minnesota Reading to Ensure Academic Development Act—is rigorous, time-intensive, and essential to our students’ success. The vast majority of our teachers have approached this training with dedication and integrity, and we commend their efforts.
We have received inquiries regarding whether additional staff members will face disciplinary action. As the review process remains ongoing, we are unable to comment on the possibility of further disciplinary measures at this time.
Our expectations for professional conduct throughout the training process were clearly established. As we work to reinforce a culture of integrity and accountability, we remain steadfast in our core mission: delivering high-quality instruction and preparing every student for academic success.
We thank you for your continued support and partnership.
