Teacher Qualifications

In accordance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), parents and guardians have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of their child's classroom teachers and paraprofessionals.

Upon request, the district will provide information regarding:

• Whether the student's teacher meets Minnesota licensing and state qualification requirements for the grade level and subject area being taught.
• Whether the teacher is serving under an emergency or other provisional licensing status.
• Whether the student receives services from a paraprofessional and, if so, the paraprofessional's qualifications.

Parents also have the right to receive information about their child's performance on state academic assessments.

In addition, the district will notify parents if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet applicable Minnesota certification or licensure requirements for the assigned grade level or subject area.

Instructional Resources

Stillwater Area Public Schools carefully selects instructional resources that support the district's curriculum, the Minnesota Academic Standards, and the educational needs of students.

Parents and guardians have the right to review instructional resources used in their child's education. Families who have concerns about instructional materials may request alternative instruction, when appropriate, or submit a request for reconsideration in accordance with Policy 606: Selection and Review of Instructional Resources.
