Work Session Notes
The school board held a work session to discuss the future of the Oak Park building. Administration presented a vision to turn the building into the Oak Park Learning Center. The multi-stage plan would be to renovate learning spaces within the former elementary school for students in the Bridge Transition 18-21 program and the St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center. The district would also open up existing spaces within the building for professional learning, daytime and evening Community Education classes, facility rental, gym space and more. The board requested additional information related to cost and is expected to discuss the plan further at a meeting in January.
The board also had a discussion about how the community can engage with board members as part of open forums. Feedback gathered from board members during the work session will be shared with the board’s Policy Committee as it considers changes to policies and procedures related to open forums.
