Action Item: Telecommunications & Internet Access Cluster Authorization Resolution
Board members voted 6-0 to approve a resolution authorizing Northeast Metro Intermediate District #916 to file for the federal e-rate discounts and telecommunications/internet access equity aid on behalf of the district. This state program provides financial assistance to help with the costs of maintaining internet access, video connectivity and related telecommunications services.

Report for Information: Native American Parent Advisory Committee (NAPAC) Report
The board heard a presentation by the Native American Parent Advisory Committee (NAPAC) and Native American Student Alliance (NASA), which provides students and the community with educational experiences celebrating the culture and history of Native Americans.
Report for Information: Review 2021-22 General Fund Budget
School board members reviewed updates to the current 2021-2022 school year budget and looked at a comparison of expenditures from January 2021 to January 2022. The mid-year revised budget includes changes since the preliminary budget was created last summer. These include things like contract settlements, COVID expenditures, enrollment and staffing changes, inflation (which is at more than 7% currently), and increased costs for transportation, substitutes and utilities. The 2021-2022 revised budget will be presented to the school board as an action item in March.
Report for Information: Oak Park Learning Center
School board members reviewed plans to renovate space within the Oak Park Building to house the St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center. Earlier this year, board members approved a multi-phase plan to renovate learning spaces within Oak Park and approved the budget for phase 1, which includes a remodel of space for the Bridge Transition 18-21 program. Phase 2, which includes the ALC and shared spaces within the building, would cost $4.9 million and could begin the summer of 2023. The board is expected to take action on Phase 2 at a future meeting. The projects will be funded through a combination of long-term facility maintenance and capital outlay funds and would not impact the district’s general operating budget.
